Do you know if your contractor is pulling a permit when work is done on your home? We recently had a client call us because she had the regional building department contact her to find out why there was no permit pulled on recent remodel work. The contractor she hired to do some remodeling work on her rental home was not licensed and therefore did not pull a permit. Now, she has to pay triple the amount of what the original permit fee would have cost and pay for any work that needs to done to bring the remodel project up to code with the building department.
When you need work done on your home, it really does pay to get a licensed contractor to do your construction projects. You get a professional job done right the first time plus you won’t have to pay permit penalties or tear down the work because the cheaper, unlicensed contractor didn’t complete it to code requirements.
Also, don’t forget that when you go to sell your home, you will need to disclose whether a permit was pulled for any improvements like re-roofs, additions, and remodels done to your property.

We have been getting phone calls lately from home owners who are frustrated with the lack of service and dependability of the roof company they chose to replace their roof. And we can only help and take over those roof replacement jobs for the owners who have not yet signed a roof contract with another company. So, please use buyer beware and check any prospective company’s BBB rating and Pikes Peak Regional licensing information before you sign on the line. Also, don’t let anyone who shows up at your door, gives a flyer or calls you persuade you to sign a roof contract the same day. Remember, it’s in your best interest to shop around roofing bids and service times to make sure you’re getting the best deal possible.
Brownard Construction is:

This summer, Colorado has been ravaged by record breaking temperatures and numerous wildfires. One of the recent wildfires that has hit us especially close to home is: The Waldo Canyon fire. There were 346 homes completely destroyed on the west side of Colorado Springs, most of them in the Mountain Shadows & Peregrine subdivisions. And numerous other homes damaged by fire or smoke.
This wildfire came over the canyon ridge on Tuesday, June 26th at 60 mph and most people on the west-side of town only had minutes to flee before this mile wide fire overtook their homes with some people never getting the chance to grab a few belongings at all before the area was evacuated. We can’t imagine how devastating of an impact this has made on those who have lost so much so quickly.
Thankfully, our community has come together to help support the people who have been affected by this devastating fire along with the firefighters, police and military who have spent many days and nights on little if any sleep to help get this fire under control, so nobody else has to suffer the loss of their home. Colorado Springs is home to some of the BEST people who see a community need & help. We’re so proud to be apart of this community!
We have listed a link below for ways you can contribute or receive assistance for the Waldo Canyon fire. We hope that those who have been impacted by the fire will be able to recover and find some state of normal soon.

With the recent wind and past hail storms that have occurred, there are many roofs in our area that have been damaged and need replacement. There are also many roofs with t-lock shingles that are no longer manufactured which means repairs to a t-lock roof are impossible and will require replacement of the entire roof. The insurance companies will pay for a roof replacement on a home that has significant wind/hail damage or has damaged t-lock shingles. Plus, right now we can typically cover your insurance deductible!
We do offer a FREE ROOF INSPECTION to see if there are any missing or damaged shingles on your home, so call us today to schedule an appointment and take advantage of our paid insurance deductible incentive (up to $1,000)!
